Hello! I'm glad you found your way here. Let me share a little bit about myself.
I have a home studio here in Columbia, SC. It's close to downtown, about 5 minutes away from both I-126 and 277. I taught piano lessons as a high schooler, took a break for a few years, and have been teaching again for about 8 years. I've been fortunate enough to grow my studio very naturally over the course of time, and I am looking forward to more growth in the coming years!
I love music and enjoy playing the piano myself. I started taking lessons from my dad when I was 5, and haven't stopped playing since! While I love playing classical music for pleasure, I also have a variety of professional experiences. I've been the staff pianist/organist at a church in downtown Columbia for 13 years. I was the studio accompanist at local private college during my undergrad and for several years after, and I still offer accompanist services to vocalists, instrumentalists and schools around town.
Teaching is my passion. My approach to teaching piano includes the usual theory, sight-reading, repertoire, but I also love incorporating music appreciation, pattern recognition, ear training, and basic learning skills in my lessons. My studio ranges from age 4 to age 60 (and includes my 5 year old daughter)! I offer a yearly recital as well as more frequent master classes. I am also in the process of developing an introduction to music class for extra young students; stay tuned or reach out for more info on this!
Please reach out if you have any questions about me or my services. I look forward to hearing from you!
